To the Top of Africa
Kilimanjaro is the crown of Tanzania. Africa’s highest and world’s Largest free standing landmark which is permanently snow capped (5895m) it is 19,340ft high, south of the equator. Kilimanjaro is also the highest 'walkable' mountain in the world and is a massive draw for trekkers ...
Its beauty has to be seen and experienced by one personally. The mountain can be climbed anytime of the year but it is unadvisable to do so during the rainy season, in April and May. Not even seventy or more years of age should deter you from the most exhilarating and rewarding expedition that this climb offers for which you do not require any technical mountaineering skills. It takes about five days to climb Mount Kilimanjaro along the Marangu Route. An extra Day is recommended for acclimatization. Other routes, Machame, Lemosho, Umbwe, Shira and Rongai can be arranged.
Mt. Meru is part of the Arusha National Park, and the lower slopes of the mountain shelters a variety of wildlife. At 4566m compared to 5895m, Meru is Kilimanjaro's little sister, but is still an impressive freestanding volcano, at the centre of the otherwise only mildly interesting Arusha National Park. Over shadowed by Mt. Kilimanjaro it is Africa’s fifth highest mountain. It offers an attraction of its own, including game filled lower slopes. Its forest is rich in tropical birds and monkeys.
